RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:
For sodium hypoclorite a severe ocular irritancy was reported. Highest tolerated (mM) dose was in Mouse 3T3, in Hamster CH V79, in Rabbit Cornea, in Human HepG2 and in Mouse RAW 264.7 cells.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:
A short-term cytotoxicity assay and a supplementary colony forming assay were used for screening and range finding of toxic concentrations of test agents. Sodium hypochlorite was tested among other substances on several mammlian cell cultures of different organs and species of origin.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:
For sodium hypoclorite a severe ocular irritancy was reported. Highest tolerated (mM) dose was in Mouse 3T3,in Hamster CH V79, in Rabbit Cornea, in Human HepG2 and in Mouse RAW 264.7 cells.
