Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

log Koc = 4.1-5.5 (KOCWIN 2.00)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data investigating the adsorption potential of Fatty acids, C16-C18, methyl esters (CAS No. 85586-21-6) are available. Since the substance is a complex UVCB substance, QSAR estimations using the KOCWIN v2.00 program have been calculated for representative fatty acid components (C16 and C18). Log Koc values range from 4.1 (based on molecular connectivity index (MCI)) to 4.9 (based on log Kow) for the C16 component and 4.7 (MCI) to 5.5 (log Kow) for the C18 component (López Parrón, 2011). These values indicate that Fatty acids, C16-C18, methyl esters (CAS No. 85586-21-6) is expected to show potential for adsorption to organic soil and sediment particles.
