Additional information

The following studies have been used to address this endpoint as a weight of evidence approach to ensure a full range of the substance is considered for the differences in appearance that may arise due the highly complex and variable nature of the substance.

- In the Oronite additives, 1993, report the appearance the test substance was reported as being a bright and clear viscous liquid.

- In the Tremain & Atwal, 2010 study, the appearance the test substance was assessed visually and has been reported as being an amber coloured viscous liquid.

- In the Morris, 1997study, the appearance the test substance was assessed visually and has been reported as being a slightly viscous, clear, brown liquid.

A reliability rating of 2 was assigned to this all the studies, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the information was obtained from study reports where only limited information on methods and results were available as the appearance was visually assessed upon receipt and not conducted to a recognised guideline.
