Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The average specific gravity of the test sample Ethylbenzene, manuf. of, distn. residues, distn. lights. at 20 degC is reported to be 0.8972 gcm-3.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
897.2

Additional information

A study (Milner, J.) was carried out to determine the density of Ethylbenzene, manuf. of, distn. residues, distn. lights.. The test sample (Ethylbenzene, manuf. of, distn. residues, distn. lights. lot 07 -007) was analyzed in duplicate using a Paar Instruments DMA 48 digital densitometer. Duplicate measurements were taken at 15 ⁰C. The average relative density was determined to be 0.90135.

In a second study (Cheeseman, B. and Goodwin, M., 2009) the average specific gravity of the test sample Ethylbenzene, manuf. of, distn. residues, distn. lights. at 20 degC was determined to be 0.8972 gcm-3.

The results of these two studies show that there is little difference at 15°C and 20°C. Therefore the density is concluded to be 0.8972 gcm-3 at

20°C.
