Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from source of exposure. Keep warm and at rest. If
the casualty is not breathing give artificial respiration.
If breathing is difficult give oxygen. Seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes, lifting eyelids occasionally to irrigate. Seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Immediately wash skin with
plenty of soap and water, then flush skin with water for at
least 15 minutes. If signs of irritation occur seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Immediately give 2 glasses of water.
Activated charcoal mixture may be administered. To prepare
activated charcoal mixture, suspend 50 grams activated
charcoal in 400 mL of water and mix thoroughly. Administer
5 mL/kg, or 350 mL for an average adult. Seek medical
attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use appropriate media for underlying cause of fire. Water
spray, dry powder, foam or carbon dioxide may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Fire fighters should wear full protective clothing and
breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Large spill: Evacuate personnel and remove to a safe area
upwind from the spillage. If possible and without risk to
safety, shut off the source of the spill. Remove sources of
heat, sparks, flame, impact, friction or electricity. Dyke
the spill to prevent material from entering sewers,
waterways or low areas. All clean-up workers should wear
appropriate personal protective equipment.

Small spills: Wipe up with suitable absorbent material.
Place material and absorbent into sealed containers and
dispose of by incineration in accordance with local
regulations. Ventilate and wash spillage site. All
clean-up workers should wear appropriate personal protective
equipment.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use local exhaust ventilation to control vapour at source.
Workers should wear dedicated work clothing and appropriate
personal protective equipment including airline
respirator/air supplied hood/air purifying respirator,
safety glasses/chemical splashproof goggles,
nitrile/Viton/other impermeable material gauntlet style
gloves, safety shoes and chemical apron.

Storage: The test substance should be stored in an air tight iron or
stainless steel closed top drum with a Teflon or equivalent
sealing gasket (rubber should not be used) at temperatures
below 85°F. Vessels containing copper or copper alloys
should not be used for storage.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Package in an air-tight iron or stainless steel closed-top
drum with a Teflon or equivalent sealing gasket.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: May form highly reactive copper salts; do not mix with
copper salts or store in copper containing vessels.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Excess test substance is recovered during the normal use
process and recycled back to the cryogenic reation.

Sample purity is of prime concern and therefore spilled
material should not be reused.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is acceptable at a suitable facility (A663).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not suitable

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, the test substance as notified does not
enter the public domain.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable
