Additional information

A corrosive result was reported after 1 min treatment with potassium tert-butanolate under semi-occlusive conditions (Evonik, 1989). Study was performed according to OECD guideline 404 . Here, one rabbit was treated with the test substance (shaved skin) and strong necrosis was detected after 1 hour. After 48 hours, strong necrosis and hardening of the skin were observed.

As the product corrodes the skin, it can be expected to have a similar effect on the eyes.
