Additional information

In-vitro study on eye irritation confirm that Ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate has the potentiel to cause severe ocular irritancy.

An experimental test on rabbits showed that Ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate is a moderate irritant to skin.

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: moderately irritating

Effects on eye irritation: highly irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

Ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate has to be classified as eye irritant category 1 according to CLP regulation, and the highest hazard statement - H318 : Causes serious eye damage - is then required.

In addition, Ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate has to be considered as a moderate skin irritant (cat.3) according to ths Globally Harmonised Classification (H316 : causes mild skin irritation). Therefore, this hazard statement has not to be reproduced in the classification of the substance according to CLP regulation.
