Description of key information

ETU (Imidazolidine-2-thione) was found to be extremely stable toward hydrolysis. No changes in concentration were observed in aqueous solutions held at 90°C for 3 months. As a consequence, no details on hydrolysis and appearance of transformation products are given.

Additional information

Based upon its chemical structure and the absence of hydrolysable function, ETU (Imidazolidine-2 -thione) can be considered as stable in water. In a study, ETU was found to be extremely stable toward hydrolysis. No changes in concentration were observed in aqueous solutions held at 90°C for 3 months. As a consequence, no details on hydrolysis and appearance of transformation products are given. This result comes to reinforce the assumption based upon the chemical structure of the substance.
