Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Experimental data on the chronic toxicity to fish of Boron orthophosphate (CAS 13308-51-5) are not available. The available aquatic toxicity tests carried out for Boron orthophosphate showing no short-term toxicity for three trophic levels and no long-term toxicity for aquatic invertebrates. In addition, the low bioaccumulation potential indicating a long-term toxicity of the substance is not anticipated. According to the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance, R.7.8.5.3 (ECHA, 2014), long-term testing of fish should only be conducted if it represents the most sensitive taxonomic group. The available short-term toxicity studies on fish and Daphnia determined no adverse effect on the test organisms. The results indicate no higher sensitivity of fish compared to Daphnia. Hence due to animal welfare reasons and to avoid unnecessary vertebrate tests, long-term toxicity testing with fish was not conducted.
