According to Column 2 of REACH annex IX If there is no exposure of the soil, or the exposure is so low that no refinement of the PEClocal or PECregional, or PNECsoil organisms is required, then this test is not necessary.
The test substance is not supposed to be directly applied to soil and an indirect exposure to soil via sewage sludge transfer is unlikely since the substance is readily biodegradable. For a substance being considered as „readily biodegradable“, it can be assumed that it will be biodegraded within the STP process and as a consequence a transfer to the soil compartment is not expected. Exposure scenarios is indeed focused only on industrial application where all waste is sent to STP. Therefore, no tests on terrestrial organisms are provided.
FAEE have a soil primary biodegradation of less than 2 days.
Since the physicochemical data indicate that the substance is not bioaccumulative, a significant distribution into the soil compartment and a significant exposure of terrestrial organisms is not expected. Hence, information about effects on terrestrial organisms is not required.
