Additional information

Key information on toxicity of the substance to aquatic algae is derived from a study with the close structural analogue 2-methyl-1-(vinyloxy)propane (CAS 109 -53 -5). In this study, which was performed according to OECD TG 201 and in compliance with GLP criteria, cultures of freshwater green algae (D. subspicatus) were exposed to nominal test concentrations of 0 (control), 9.4, 18.8, 37.5, 75, 150 and 300 mg/L for 72 hours. As deviations from the measured initial concentrations was greater than ± 20 %, mean measured concentrations were calculated to be 1.4, 4.3, 9.8, 23.1, 51.5 and 200 mg/L and effect values expressed as such. Cell densities were measured at regular intervals throughout the test and inhibition on growth rate (an biomass) calculated as compared to the control. Inhibitions of growth rate of 1.1%, 3.8%, 57.8% and 95.0% were seen at measured concentrations of 9.8, 23.1, 51.5 and 200 mg/L, respectively. Based on these findings, the 72 -h ErC50 and 72 -h ErC10 values were determined at 45.9 and 25.3 mg/L, respectively. The 72 -h NOEC was 9.82 mg/L. The ErC50 and ErC10 values are used for assesment. After correction for difference in molecular weight between the read-across source and target substances, the 72 -h ErC50 and 72 -h Er10 values are 53.2 and 29.3 mg/L, respectively.
