Additional information

On the basis of the available data, Sodium diisobutylnaphtalene sulphonate, if released into the environment, will mainly distribute into the aquatic compartment, where it is expected to biodegrade quite slowly (inherently, primary biodegradable, with a 27% in 28 days). Hydrolysis is not expected to be a relevant removal pathway. In the aquatic environment, the substance is not expected to bioaccumulate in the aquatic organisms because of the low experimental logKOWof 0.54.

The logKoc for Sodium diisobutylnaphtalene sulphonate ranges from 1.78 to 2.37 and the substance is therefore expected to have a medium to high mobilty in soil.

If released in the atmosphere, Sodium diisobutylnaphtalene sulphonate is not expected to be present as vapour, basing on a vapour pressure of 2.9 x 10-11Pa (water: 3,200 Pa at 25°C).
