Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

DEA acetate is not considered to meet the criteria for persistence (P), based on a study on a closely-related read-across compound, TEA acetate, which was found to be inherently biodegradable. DEA acetate has a predicted Log Pow of less than -1.31, significantly below the bioaccumulation screening criteria Log Kow value of ≥4.5, so does not fulfil the criteria for bioaccumulation (B). A low level of aquatic toxicity is predicted for DEA acetate, based on seven reliable ecotoxicity studies on read-across compounds, so DEA acetate does not fulfil the criteria for toxicity (T).

Additionally, DEA acetate is not classified as T, R48 or Xn, R48 under the DSD (67/548/EEC) or STOT under CLP (1272/2008).

Likely routes of exposure:

Exposure of the environment to DEA acetate is not expected as the substance is produced in a closed process, then incorporated into cement at very low concentrations.
