Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion

Boiling pointopen allclose all
Boiling pt.:
155.7 °C
Atm. press.:
ca. 1 atm
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
> 130 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The slightly lower onset in the decomposition test (130 °C) is probably due to the lower heating rate used (3 K/min).

Any other information on results incl. tables

The DSC trace shows a well-defined melting peak (onset approx. 55 °C) and an endothermic boiling peak in the 150 – 195 °C region . The peak is broader than for a typical boiling peak. The second measurement used a larger hole in case there was a problem with residues blocking the hole, and a nitrogen purge to prevent oxidation. The result was consistent with the first measurement, indicating that these effects are not significant.

After the end of the second measurement the pan was opened. It contained brown residue, indicating that decomposition had occurred during boiling.

The mean onset, 151 °C, is taken as the start of boiling. The difference between the two values is used a rough estimate of the uncertainty.
