Additional information

As indicated by a number of standardized ready biodegradability studies, Tridecylamine, branched and linear (CAS 86089 -17 -0) is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. In a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301B under the enhanced conditions, the degree of biodegradation of the test substance was ca. 9% after 60 days of the test procedure (CO2/ThCO2, BASF SE, 2021). In another performed CO2 Evolution Test (OECD TG 301B), the mean degradation of TDA, tested in two concentrations, was < 10 % after 56 days, indicating poor biodegradability (BASF AG, 2003, Rep. no.: 03/0391/36/1). Domestic activated sludge was used as inoculum in both tests.

Similar results were obtained with two Closed Bottle Tests (OECD TG 301D) performed with the substance: <10 % of (BASF AG, 2003, Rep. no.; 03/0391/36/1) and 6% within 28 days (BASF AG, 1993, Rep.no.: 92/1297/23/1). The results are based on DOC removal. The effluent from a laboratory wastewater plant treating municipal sewage was used as inoculum.
