Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

measured HLC (25°C) = 2.20E-7atm*m3/mol (0.0222915 Pa*m3/mol) (method: equilibrium partial pressure measurements over aqueous solutions)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

For butyric acid, a Henry's law constantof 2.20E-7 atm m³/mol was determined in a study using equilibrium partial pressure measurements over aqueous solutions at 298.15 K (25°C) (Khan, 1992).

A calculated Henry's law constant of 5.87E-007 atm*m3/mol (group contribution method) and of 9.65E-007 atm*m3/mol (bond contribution method) was obtained using the program HENRYWIN v 3.2 (Part of US EPA EPI Suite v4.00) (ECT, 2009). Measured and calculated HCL match satisfactorily.

Butyric acid volatilizes only to a low degree from water.
