Description of key information

Two acute toxicity studies were recently conducted with 1,1'-(ethane-1,2 -diylbis(thio)bisbenze and included an OECD 201 with algae and an OECD 202 study with Daphnia magna. In addition, acute toxicity test data were available for Zebrafish. A 48 -hr acute study with daphnids was conducted as a Limit Test.  There was no mortality and the reported EC50 value is greater than the highest concentration tested at 100% v/v which resulted in a geometric mean mesured concentration of  0.0152 mg/L.  The 72 -hr ErC50 value for algae based on growth rate inhibition was >0.0043 mg/L, which was the geometric mean for the saturated solution test group. For the acute test with Zebrafish, there was no toxicity reported up to the limit of detection at 0.007 mg/L.
