Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2012-02-07- 2012-02-13
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): bis-DMAPA
- Substance type: Amber liquid
- Physical state: Liquid
- Composition of test material, percentage of components: 0.03% water, 16.02 meq/g total amine
- Lot/batch No.: PFW110019
- Storage condition of test material: Sample stored in cool, well-ventilated storage area prior to testing
Key result
Water solubility:
425.07 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
12.68 - 12.88
Remarks on result:
other: The reported result is the average of 3 flasks.
Water solubility:
873 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat. (dissolved fraction)
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
12.68 - 12.88
Remarks on result:
other: The reported result is the average of 3 flasks.
Details on results:
As the solubility of the test item was found to be greater than 100 g/L in solution a correction factor was applied to determine the solubility of the material in 1 L of water. Both results have been reported: 873 g test material dissolves in 1L water; expressed as solubility in the final solution, this corresponds to 425.07 g/L.

During the aqueous solubility estimation stage of the test, 833.57 mg of the sample completely dissolved in 5.5 mL of water.

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results: very soluble (> 10000 mg/L)
The substance is concluded to be very soluble in water at ambient temperature: max 873 g test material dissolves in 1L water; expressed as solubility in the final solution, this corresponds to 425.07 g/L.

Description of key information

In a GLP-compliant study according to the preliminary test as specified in test method EC A.6, the test substance was determined to be very soluble in water under ambient conditions (Younis S, 2012).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
425 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The water solubility is 425 g/L solution; this corresponds to 873 g test material that will dissolve in 1L water.
