Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Short-term toxicity to fish
Administrative data

Description of key information
Freshwater fish: LC50(96 h) > 100 mg/L (RA FCC catalysts)
Marine water fish: LC50(96 h) > 780 mg/L (RA Zeolite cuboidal)
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
No data for short-term toxicity to fish are available for the target substance Aluminium silicate and titanium oxide matrix doted with vanadium, nickel, and antimony. Therefore, data from the analogue approach source substance fluidized catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts were applied to cover the endpoint short-term toxicity to freshwater fish for the target substance. For marine water fish data were available from the analogue source substance Zeolite, cuboidal, crystalline, synthetic, non-fibrous.
The freshwater fish Danio rerio was exposed to FCC catalysts over a period of 96 h according to OECD 203 in a limit test (Rudolf 2007, RL2). The filtered test solution of a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L was tested. No mortality was observed in control and filtered test solution and therefore, a LC50(96 h) of greater than 100 mg/L was stated.
For the marine water fish Lagodon rhomboides a LC50(96 h) of greater than 780 mg/L could be derived with the source chemical Zeolite, cuboidal, crystalline, synthetic, non-fibrous (Maki and Macek 1978, RL2). The test was conducted in a static system according to the guideline of Methods for Acute Toxicity tests with Fish, Macroinvertebrates, and Amphibians (EPA 660/3 -75/009). Up to the highest test concentration of 780 mg/L no mortality was observed.
Additional data for short-term toxicity to freshwater fish are available for the following source substances which serve as potential data sources for the analogue approach of Aluminium silicate and titanium oxide matrix doted with vanadium, nickel, and antimony:
- Source chemical 2 - Zeolite, cuboidal, crystalline, synthetic, non-fibrous:
LC50(96 h) > 680 mg/L, Pimephales promelas; Maki and Macek 1978
- Source chemical 5 - Aluminium oxide:
LL50(96 h) > 100 mg/L, Salmo trutta; Tobiensen and Kallquist 1996
In accordance with the target substance, the available data for the source substances also provide a low potential for short-term toxicity to fish.
The respective references for the source substance data can be found in the data matrix of the justification for the analogue approach, which can be found either in the CSR or as attachment in Iuclid section 13.
