Description of key information

The acute toxicity of the test material to aquatic organisms was investigated in algae, daphnia and fish amd microorganisms. Up to the nominal limit dose of 100 mg/L nominal no toxicity was observed in aquatic freshwater organisms fish, algae and daphnia, i.e. the EC50 values for all three tests clearly exceeded the water solubility of the substance. Moreover, no effect on reproduction was observed in a long-term toxicity test in daphnia and the NOAEC was higher than 100 mg/L (nominal) clearly exceeding the water solubility. Likewise, no inhibition of microorganisms was observed in a respiration inhibition test with domestic activated sludge up to the limit dose of 1000 mg/L (nominal).

All tests were performed according to international accepted guidelines, following GLP regulations and are of high quality.

Additional information

Oxynex ST has been tested in limit tests up to the maximum water solubility (nominal: 100 mg/L). No effects mortalities or clinical observations have been observed in daphnia or fish. The growth of the freshwater algae was not affected.

A structurally close homologue of Oxynex ST had no toxic effects on survival and reproduction of Daphnia magna in a limit Daphnia magna Reproduction Test up to the solubility limit of the test item in test medium.

In conclusion, no hazard has been identified and a PNEC must not be established.
