Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Rapid hydrolysis is expected to occur with a water soluble solvent to form titanium dioxide, isopropanol and neodecanoic acid / neodecanoate.

None of the relevant hydrolysable/transformation products discussed have high toxicity profiles, neither on an acute basis nor chronic.Hydrolytically unstable, the substance could, in the presence of certain solvents break down into products not being classified as mutagenic, toxic to reproduction or carcinogenic.

Based on the chemistry of the assessed substance but as well relevant hydroysable/transformation products the data available indicate some level of persistency in the environment, however it can be reasonably expected that the assessed substance or its hydrolysis/transformation products are unlikely to be absorbed and accumulate in environmental organisms or cause significant environmental toxicity.

Based on data available for the environmental fate and effects of the putative hydrolysis/transformation products it is proposed that significant bioaccumulation and effects on environmental organisms are unlikely.
