Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Name:
bis(1-methylheptyl) maleate
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
bis(1-methylheptyl) maleate
Name:
bis(1-methylheptyl) maleate
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
bis(1-methylheptyl) maleate
PBT status:
further information relevant for the PBT assessment is necessary
Justification:

Persistence:

The substance is not readily biodegradable (47% at 29 days), no other data on degradation is available, therefore the registered substance is considered to be at least Persistent under the criteria of REACH (1907/2006), Annex XIII (2).

Bioaccumulation:

The substance is very insoluble in water and has a high calculated Log Pow (7.8). No BCF value is available. Therefore the registered substance is considered to be at least Bioaccumulative under the critera of REACH (1907/2006), Annex XIII (2).

Toxic:

No toxicological effects were observed in any of the three trophic levels up to loading rates of 100mg/l. The registered substance is highly insoluble in water (0.0015 µg/l) .

Based upon read-across data the substance is expected to be toxic by repeated exposure.

The registered substance is therefore considered to meet the criteria for consideration as Toxic under REACH (1907/2006), Annex XIII (2).

Further information on persistence and bioaccumulation is required to complete the PBT assessment. All persistence and bioacculation requirements at this tonnage band have been met. Further testing is not required under REACH (1907/2006) at the preset tonnage band.
