Details on results:
In the 24-hour scoping tests, platinum dioxide was as unreactive as platinum metal. For the 1, 10 and 100 mg PtO2/loadings, the net average concentrations increased relatively rapidly to the limiting values of 1.3 µg/L (s % = 19), 12.4 µg/L (s % = 3) and 112.7 µg/L (s % = 3), respectively by seven days.

Conclusions:
For platinum dioxide, in the 24-hour scoping tests at 100 mg/L measured concentrations were 107 µg/L at pH 6 and 101 µg/L at pH 8. In the definitive tests, the net average concentrations increased relatively rapidly to the limiting values of 1.3 µg/L at a loading rate of 1 mg/L after 28 days and 12.4 µg/L and 112.7 µg/L, at loadings rates of 10 and 100 mg/L respectively, after 7 days.
Executive summary:

This is a guideline transformation / dissolution study and is adequate for assessment as a key study for this endpoint. 24-hour scoping studies were conducted at pH 6 and pH 8.5 at a 100 mg/L loading rate. Definitive studies were then conducted at 10 and 100 mg/L (7 days) and 1 mg/L (28 days), all at pH 6.
