Results and discussion

Effect concentrations
Key result
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
> 10 000 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Details on results:
The test solution was cloudy and coloured. Undissolved test substance was visible on the water surface. No mortality or adverse symptoms were observed at any time point.
Results with reference substance (positive control):
Positive control of animals was conducted with chloroacetamide. LC50 after 48 hours: about 31 mg/L (determined Nov. 30, 1987)
Reported statistics and error estimates:
Calculation of the median lethal concentration (LC50) and, if possible, the LC5 and the LC95 were determined using probit analysis.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The 96-hour LC50 was greater than 10000 mg/L, the highest concentration tested.
Executive summary:

Groups of 10 golden orfe fish, Leuciscus idus L., were exposed for 96 hours to 0 or 10000 mg/L of the test substance dissolved in water. There was no mortality and no signs of toxicity.
