Description of key information

This study resulted in an EC50 (72 h) of 0.711 mg/L and an EC10 (72 h) of 0.33 mg/L based on growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (OECD 201, GLP).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0.711 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.33 mg/L

Additional information

One experimental study is available investigating the toxicity of the substance to aquatic freshwater algae (Scheerbaum, 2016). The study was conducted according to OECD 201 and GLP under static conditions using Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata as test species. The test concentrations of 0.0346, 0.0976, 0.335, 0.991 and 3.43 mg/L were defined after a range-finding test. SPME-GC-MS analysis at the beginning and at the end of exposure indicated that the nominal concentrations remained within 70-96% after 72 h. Inhibition of growth was recorded resulting in an ErC50 of 0.711 mg/L and an ErC10 of 0.33 mg/L after 72 h.
