Description of key information

Studies on two trophic levels are available for similar substance 1.

The substance (15% formulation) was tested in Daphnia magna (n=20, 4 replicates/concentration) according to OECD 202 in a static limit test. After 48 hours 35% immobility was seen at 667 mg/L (100 mg/L a.i.). The EC50 based on active ingredient is >100 mg/L (IBACON 2007).

Moreover a prediction with the QSAR dyes RC 2.0 Developed by Milano Chemometrics and QASR research group Dept. Earth and Environmental Science, University Milano was performed on Reactive Blue 171, and the substance resulted not classified.

A study with Lemna minor was performed using 5 concentrations ranging from 1.4 to 141 mg/L ( (1.3 -100 mg/L as a.i.) The measured concentrations are (geometric mean): ND, 3.1, 11.8, 46.6 and 135.9 mg/L. Incubation time was 7 days. Significant inhibition of plant growth was observed in the 2 highest concentrations. All validity criteria were fulfilled. The ErC50 of the substance is > 135.9 mg/L (>100 mg/L a.i.). The NOEC is 11.8 mg/L (14 mg/L as a.i.) based on measured concentrations (Laus 2018).

Read across document is discussed in section 13

Additional information

Based on the outcome of the key studies it can be concluded that the substance is of low toxicity versus aquatic organisms
