Description of key information

The growth of Lemna gibba exposed to the test item  was investigated in a 7 day static test according to OECD 221 guideline. The EC50 value was determined to be >1000 mg/L. The EC10 value was also determined to be >1000 mg/L.

Additional information

The growth of Lemna gibba exposed to the test item was investigated in a 7 day static test. The test was performed in glass beaker containing 400 mL of each treatment per replicate. Six test item concentrations of 1000, 333, 111, 37, 12.3, 4.1 mg/L plus the control were used in the test. At exposure termination, in the test item concentrations of 4.1, 12.3, 37 and 111 mg/L no distinctive changes from the normal development of plants in the control were observed. In the test item concentration of 333 mg/L, bending down of colonies and shorter roots were observed. In the test item concentration of 1000 mg/L, colored roots, bending down of colonies and shorter roots were observed. The concentrations of the test item were determined with a validated spectrophotometric method. Samples of all test item concentrations and the control at exposure initiation and at exposure termination were chemically analyzed. In the samples collected at exposure initiation the determined test item concentrations were in the range of 87.0 – 96.7% of nominal concentration. Therefore, the results confirm correct preparation of the test item concentrations. In the samples collected at exposure termination the determined test item concentrations were in the range of 84.1 – 109.6% of nominal concentration. Therefore, the test item concentration was stable under test conditions. The endpoint values were determined on the basis of the nominal test item concentrations.
