Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The particle size distribution of quinine base, anhydrous sample #1 is < 250 µm and the particle size distribution of sample #2 is < 63 µm. The mass median diameter of quinine is in a range of 24 - 28µm.

Additional information

In this study report, the particle size distribution of quinine was determined for two samples. The particle size distribution of quinine base, anhydrous sample #1 is < 250 µm and the particle size distribution of sample #2 is < 63 µm. In sample #2 lower particles sizes were measured, so that this sample is more conservative for prediction the dustiness. With regard to inhalation potential, 100 % can be inhaled (<100 µm). 38 % of quinine has a particle size < 20 µm. Therefore, the alveoli relevant respirable fraction (<10 µm) is <38%. The mass median diameter is in a range of 24 - 28 µm.
