DDACarbonate revealed adverse effects when exposed to fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae. Freshwater and marine species were assessed. The most sensitive species was the fresh water green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus with a 96-hour NOEC for growth and growth rate equal to 15.2 µg AI/L. When exposed to activated sewage sludge the respiration rate of was reduced (3-hour EC50) at a concentration of 51 mg AI/L of DDACarbonate.
