Description of key information

Human Skin Model test for corrosion (OECD 431)
Human Skin Model test for irritation (OECD 439)
BCOP test (OECD 437)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin irritation / corrosion

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (corrosive)

Additional information

Although in vitro data are available indicating that the test substance is not corrosive in the Human Skin Model test for corrosion (OECD 431), but is irritating in the Human Skin Model test for irritation (OECD 439) and for eye irritation no classification is possible in the BCOP test (OECD 437), the applicant sticks to the current classification as corrosive. The classification was not changed due to the fact that the test substance is an UVCB and the most critical component phenol showed irritating and corrosive properties in humans.
