Mechanical sensitivity test:

- 6 tests were carried out at 40 J. No explosion. This means that neither flames nor reports were observed. The tests were carried out with a 10 kg hammer at a distance of 0.4 meter

Thermal sensitivity test (Koenen test):

- Koenen tests were carried out with orifices of 6 and 2 mm. No explosions, not even deformation of the tubes were observed. Time from start heating to the first venting, measured in the test with a 2 mm vent, is 44 sec. The duration of the venting was 29 sec.

- According to the EU-test method, 3 tests with a 6mm and 3 tests with a 2mm orifice have to be carried out. However, due to the difficulty of handling TEA in Koenen steel tubes and the results obtained, the number of tests was limited. One test was carried out with a 6 mm orifice, 2 tests with a 2mm orifice.

- The number of tests will not reduce the reliability of the final conclusion because the observed venting effect at 2 and 6mm is mild. No explosion, not even deformation of the tube was observed. No deformation of the tube means that the maximum pressure during heating TEA in the tube was far below the bursting pressure of the tube.
