Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on experience in handling and use and with comparison with substances known to be flammable in contact with water and to have pyrophoric properties, the test substance is predicted to be non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Flammability (Contact with Water):

The test item was assessed during handling and use for flammability with respect to contact with water and was also compared with example substances which are known to be flammable on contact with water. Examples of these substances include alkali metals, alkyl aluminium derivatives, alkyl metals, metal hydrides, metal phosphides and certain metal powders.

During handling and use there were no signs of flammability in regard to contact with water and comparison with substances that are known to be flammable in contact with water implies that the test item would not be flammable in contact with water.

Based on experience in handling and use of the test item and with comparison with substances known to be flammable in contact with water, the result of the flammability (contact with water) is predicted negative.

Pyrophoric Properties:

The test item was assessed during handling and use for pyrophoric properties and was also compared with example substances which are known to be pyrophoric. Examples of these substances include alkyl aluminium derivatives, alkyl boranes, alkyl haloboranes, alkylhalophosphines, alkyl metals, alkyl phosphines, alkyl silanes, aryl metals, boranes, metal hydrides complex acetylides and freshly produced finely divided metal powders.

During handling and use there were no signs of pyrophoric properties and comparison with substances that are known to have pyrophoric properties implies that the test item would not have pyrophoric properties.

Based on experience in handling and use of the test item and with comparison with substances known to have pyrophoric properties, the result of the pyrophoric properties has been predicted negative

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the result for flash point (176°C), the predicted negative flammability for contact with water and the predicted negative pyrophoric properties, it is concluded that the test substance does not meet the criteria for classification as a flammable liquid.
