Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Really biodegradability was investigated in a well documented study according to OECD guideline 301F. No biodegradation was found after 28 days. This is caused by the very high molecular weight of the test substance (> 8000 dalton). Due to the high molecular weight the substance is not bioavailable for the organisms and therefore not biologically degradable.

The ‘P’ criterion according to Annex XIII is not excluded for environmental compartments.

Due to the physico-chemical properties of the substance, it was not possible to specify the log Pow.

But a potential for bioaccumulation can be ruled out because the substance is not bioavailable (molecular weight > 8000 dalton).

The ‘B’ criterion is NOT fulfilled.

The substance is non toxic to mammalian and aquatic organisms.

The 'T' criterion is NOT fulfilled.

For Leuco Sulphur Black 1 the ‘P’ criteria is fulfilled but the ‘B’ and ‘T’ criteria not. Nevertheless the substance is neither a 'PBT' nor a 'vPvB' substance.
