Description of key information

Findings in the abiotic and biotic degradation studies showed no relevant degradation of the substance in the environment indicating that sodium 3 -(allyloxy)-2 -hydroxypropanesulphonate is a recalcitrant substance. Due to the high polarity and low adsorption potential it is highly mobile in the enviroment and relevant indirect exposure of sediment and soil is not expected.

In the preliminary hydrolysis study no degradation at 50 °C was observed. Therefore the half-life of the substance was set to the default value of 365 days. Additionally, no relevant degradation was found in the biodegradation screening test as well as in the simulation study in surface water at 12 °C. Based on these findings the substance is considered as not biodegradable for the chemical safety assessment.
