Description of key information

The dissociation constant of octamethylenediamine is pka 1 = 11.0 at 20 °C and pka 2 = 10.1 at 20 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The pKa values of octamethylenediamine were reported to be in a range of 10,84 to 11 at 20°C for pKa 1 and 10,1 to 10,21 at 20°C for pKa 2. One value originates from an experimental study which is cited in SPARC database. The other value was calculated with SPARC a reliable prediction tool for this endpoint. The value which originates from an experimental study and cited in SPARC database is 11 for pKa 1 and 10.1 for pka 2 is regarded to be reliable for octamethylenediamine.
