Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

The manufacturing/use of the registered substance fulfils strictly controlled conditions. Therefore, no exposure of man or the environment is expected. In the case of accidental exposure, the following measures should be taken (as reported by the Safety Data Sheet):

Eye contact

- rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes - open eyelids forcibly

- begin with medical treatment.

Skin contact

- remove contaminated clothing immediately and drench affected skin with plenty of water

- summon a physician immediately

Inhalation

- remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm

- get medical treatment immediately

Note to physician

- symptomatic treatment and administration of antidote

- Hydrogen cyanide Antidote (Hydroxycobalamine, (vitamin B12, Cyanokit (R)))

- Artificial respiration with 100% Oxygen.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media: Water haze

Alcohol resistant foam

Fire-extinguishing powder

Carbon dioxide

- Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water with full jet.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: In case of fire, the following can be released:

Carbon monoxide (CO)

Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Avoid leaking into channels and underground rooms.

Vapours are heavier than air and may be ignited by hot surfaces, sparks

or flames.

Strong heating may cause formation of potentially explosive vapours.

- Advice for fire fighter: Wear self-contained respiratory protective device.

Chemical resistant protective suit.

Under the protective suit a fire protective suit according to EN 469

should be applied.

Use chemical protective suit and self contained breathing apparatus

while undressing contaminated co-workers or handling contaminated

equipment.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions, Protective equipment and emergency procedures:  Wear protective clothing.

Avoid contact with eyes and skin and clothes

Keep people at a distance and stay on the windward side.

Access only for trained personnel with personal protective equipment.

Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/

aerosol.

Keep away from ignition sources.

Ensure adequate ventilation.

- Environmental precautions: Keep contaminated washing water and dispose of appropriately.

Inform respective authorities in case of seepage into water course or

sewage system.

Do not allow undiluted product or large quantities of it to reach ground

water, water course or sewage system.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders,

universal binders, sawdust).

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Dispose contaminated material as waste.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling: Inert gas blanketing required.

Empty containers must not be used for other products.

Contaminated protective equipment should be cleaned before taking it

off.

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace.

Prevent formation of aerosols.

Ensure good interior ventilation, especially at floor level. (Fumes are

heavier than air).

All aparatus must be grounded.

Use additional container if material is transported in glass bottles.

Use only non sparking metal tools.

Take care with emptied containers - explosion possible on ignition.

Fill only in dedicated and assigned containers.

Keep containers tightly sealed.

Information about fire - and explosion protection: Protect against electrostatic charges.

Use explosion-proof apparatus / fittings and spark-proof tools.

Vapors are heavier than air, they may spread on the ground and form

explosive mixtures with air.

Avoid evaporation of solvent.

Possible formation of explosive mixtures with air upon strong heating.

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements to be met by storerooms and

receptacles: Storage under inert gas.

Store in a dry location, keep away from humidity.

Use only receptacles specifically permitted for this substance/product.

Information about storage in one common storage facility: Store away from acids.

Do not store together with alkalis (caustic solutions).

Store away from oxidising agents.

Store away from reducing agents.

Protect from heat and direct sunlight. Store under inert gas.

Store in a cool place. Heat will increase pressure and may lead to the

receptacle bursting.

Minimum storage temperature: +12°C (relevant for handling as liquid)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Additional information about design of technical facilities: Devices and vessels must be inerted before starting operation. Do not use pressurized air for delivering.

Check seals on flanges and valves for suitability and corrosion

resistance. If necessary inspection intervals should be defined!

Waste gases should be led into the atmosphere only via appropriate

separators, scrubbers or incinerators.

General protective and hygienic measures:

Contaminated protective suit shall be cleaned before taking it off.

Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed.

Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

Store protective clothing separately.

Respiratory protection:

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory

filter device: Filter A. In case of intensive or longer exposure use

self-contained respiratory protective device.

Protection of hands: Protective gloves.

Do not wear gloves made from the following materials longer than 8

hours:

Butyl rubber, BR

Chloroprene rubber, CR

Check for tightness before use. Replace damaged gloves.

Eye protection: Safety glasses.

Body protection: Use protective suit with self-contained breathing apparatus.

Limitation and supervision of exposure into the environment:

Avoid spillage of product into the environment.

If possible use this material only in closed systems and devices. In case

of open plant systems (sampling devices, filling and discharging,

cleansing works etc.) use local exhaust and collecting trays. Follow

emission limit values. Measures in case of unwanted emissions should

be established.

Risk management measures: General protective and hygienic measures have to be observed.

Handling and use of this material/formulation only under controlled

conditions in closed systems.

Employees who use this material must be trained and

demonstrably instructed about possible risks for man and environment.

Measures for prevention of hazards in case of unwanted leakage

(LOPC) shall be implemented.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided: Avoid electrostatic charge.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Forms explosive gas mixture with air.

Possible formation of explosive mixtures with air upon strong heating.

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents, acids.

Hazardous decomposition products: Nitrogen oxides, Carbon monoxide.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods Recommendation: Must not be disposed together with household garbage. Do not allow product to reach sewage system.

Must be specially treated adhering to official regulations.

If possible recovery or recycling.

Empty container completely.

Storage in a safe place after emptying.

Biological waste water treatment: Discharge into waste water channels and biological treatment plants

only after clearence with the operating company and in accordance with

local Authority approval.
