Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance reaction mass of 2,2'-[methylenebis(oxymethylene)bis[2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol] and 2,2'-[oxybis(methylene)]bis[2 -ethylpropane-1,3-diol] and propylidynetrimethanol is stable to hydrolysis at environmentally relevant temperatures and pH's i.e. the estimated hydrolysis half-life is greater than one year under environmental conditions.

In a study conducted to guideline OECD 302B, the substance was 92% biodegraded over 28 days (i.e. > 70%). The substance is therefore considered inherently and ultimately biodegradable.

The logKow of reaction mass of 2,2'-[methylenebis(oxymethylene)bis[2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol] and 2,2'-[oxybis(methylene)]bis[2 -ethylpropane-1,3-diol] and propylidynetrimethanol is low and is reported to be 1.11. According to Column 2 of Annex IX of the REACH regulation, no bioaccumulation study is required if the substance can be expected to have a low potential for bioaccumulation based on its log Kow. As such no study is provided in this case.

Based on the Log Pow value (1.11), the substance reaction mass of 2,2'-[methylenebis(oxymethylene)bis[2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol] and 2,2'-[oxybis(methylene)]bis[2-ethylpropane-1,3-diol] and propylidynetrimethanol can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption. According to Column 2 of Annex VIII of the REACH regulation, no study is required if the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption.

In accordance with REACH Annex XI, based on available data, the substance is not classified as hazardous for the environment. Therefore, degradation simulation testing in water and/or sediment and soil do not need to be conducted.
