Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Exposure to five graded doses of the test material in the presence of metabolic activation and in
the absence of metabolic activation did not increase the reversion to histidine prototrophy S. typhimurium strains TA1535, TA1537, TA1538, TA98 or TA100. The test system met all the criteria established for evaluation of an unknown agent. Therefore, methyl-3-mercaptopropionate is not considered to be mutagenic in this test system.
