Following the information requirements of REACH for a transported isolated intermediate, the aquatic toxicity of Zorgol 48 (1-Hexanol, 2-ethyl-, manuf. of, by-products from, distn. Residues) was examined using a short-term Daphnia immobilisation test and a 72 h algal growth inhibition test.
Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
In a valid acute daphnia immobilisation test according to OECD TG 202, an 48 h EC50 of 74 mg/L was determined. The NOEC was 45 mg/L (Muckle/Laus, 2010b).
Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
In a valid algal growth inhibition test according to OECD TG 201, an ErC50 of 7.6 mg/L was determined. LOEC and NOEC were 6.4 and 0.8 mg/L respectively (Muckle/Laus, 2010c).
