Additional information

One study evaluating the toxicity of methyl hexanoate (CAS No. 106-70-7) to algae is available (Kimmel, 2013). This test was conducted according to OECD Guideline 201, under GLP conditions. Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed to the test substance for 72 hours within static water regime at 22 °C. Measurements of test concentrations (6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L, nominal) were performed through GC analysis. After 72 hours, significant effects on algal growth rate were reported at nominal concentrations of 25, 50 and 100 mg/L. The EC50 (72 h, growth rate) was determined to be 61 mg/L (nominal concentration) and the NOEC (72 h, growth rate) = 12.5 mg/L (nominal concentration), corresponding to measured values of 11 mg/L and 2.7 mg/L, respectively. Additionally, a QSAR calculation (ECOSAR v1.00) was performed, resulting in an EC50 (96 h) of 16.2 mg/L (green algae, calculation for neutral organics).
