Description of key information

Adsorption of MIPKP is calculated using QSARs.

The different QSAR's give different outcomes of the Log Koc. For risk assessment purposes in the European Economic Area, the following calculated value should be used, in view of all uncertainties using QSAR. For the main component DMP: Log Koc=1.84.

This value show that the substance does not adsorb easily to soil or sediment particles.

In two leaching studies, MIPKP and its degradation products are examined. A gelcoat manufactured with MIPKP as initator is put in seawater and leaching is examined for 10 days. No MIPKP is found in the seawater, therefore MIPKP does not leach out of the gelcoat into the water. From the degradation products two compounds are detected. In the seawater simulant samples 4.2 mg/L

Isopropyl acetate and 18.8 mg/L 3-Methyl-2-butanone were found.
