Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air; in case of indisposition seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water; if irritation occurs, seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment; in case of indisposition seek medical

advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry powder, foam.

Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and sulfur oxides as well as sodium.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear self contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear protective clothing (dust mask, safety goggles and impermeable gloves).

Solids: sweep up (wet powders with water) and place in suitable containers for disposal.

Liquids: absorb using an adequate absorbent (such as kieselgur, sand, saw dust) collect and place in suitable containers for disposal.

Dispose of waste material in authorized incineration facilities.

The containers label in accordance with Technical Rule 201.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. If the pure substance is handled as powder, all working methods must always be designed so that exposure by inhalation of the substance and by skin contact are minimized and eye contact is excluded. Closed or at least

dust-proof equipment should be used during filling, transfer and metered feeding as well as during sampling. In the case of handling in open systems, any dust that can form must be extracted directly at the point of origin. If technical extraction or ventilation measures are not possible or are

insufficient, respiratory protection (e.g. dust mask with particle filter) should be worn. To avoid skin contact, tested protective gloves (e.g. nitrile rubber or PVC) and suitable protective clothing (e.g. normal working clothes) should be worn. Safe eye protection (e.g. safety glasses with side protection shield) is absolutely essential.

Adequate washing facilities should be available in the immediate vicinity of the work area and eye douches should be made available and their location indicated conspicuously. After skin contact, the affected parts of the skin should be cleaned thoroughly using (waterand soap). Special skin-protection and skin-care measures are recommended. A skin-protection plan should be drawn up.

If dust can develop, due to the potential dust explosion risk, potential ignition sources should be removed from the work area. Static discharges must be avoided, e.g. thorough the earthing of containers, apparatus and pumps.

Do not eat, drink or smoke in the working area.

Storage: The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure containers in adequate rooms at room temperature. Avoid residue outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 25 kg Faltkarton mit PE-Inlinern.

Exposure controls / personal protection

General protective measures: Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

Hygiene measures: Keep away from food and drink stuffs.

Do not eat, drink or smoke at work.

Wash hands before breaks and at end of work and use skin-protecting ointment.

Respiratory protection :         Dust mask with particle filter.

Hand protection :       Wear suitable gloves e.g. of PVC or nitrile rubber. In the event of contamination, change protective gloves immediately.

Eye protection :       safety glasses with side protection shield

Body protection :       Wear protective clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Not known.

Chemical reaction with water: No dangerous reaction with water.

Dust explosion: Not to be expected if handled under good industrial hygiene practices.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in the consumption of ca. 99% by irreversible binding to poly amide fibers; recovery or recycling of the remaining test substance is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No suitable method known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration with flue gas scrubbing.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Removal by controlled discharge to a waste water treatment plant. It is estimated that approx. 1% of the total quantity used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as highly diluted solution. A purification of

the waste water in a waste water treatment plant is recommended. The dyestuff should be used in a well equipped dye-house.

If necessary the waste water can be purified prior to the waste water treatment by membrane filtration or by flocculation with cationic agents or by treatment with ozone.

The most effective method is the membrane filtration: more than 99% of the remaining dyestuff can be removed from the waste water.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.
