Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

An estimation on the mutagenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive potential of the target substance and similar substances was carried out using the QSAR toolbox 4.5.

The resulted estimated values for the similar substances were the same to those obtained for the target substance. The only difference between the estimated values for the three substances concerns an additional alert for the similar substance 2-ethylhexyl cyanoacetate, specifically, carcinogenicity (genotox and nongenotox) alerts by ISS, structural alert for nongenotoxic carcinogenicity (Substituted n-alkylcarboxylic acids (Nongenotox)). Additionally, in vivo mutagenicity (Micronucleus) alerts by ISS (H-acceptor-path3-H-acceptor) were found for both the similar and target substances, however no other alerts are present.

Nevertheless, experimental data on the similar substance 2-ethylhexyl cyanoacetate resulted in a negative Ames test both with and without metabolic activation.

To conclude, the target substance is not expected to be mutagen nor carcinogenic. However, considering the limited available experimental data a special attention is paid for human exposure and for the environment.

Further information are available in the attachment in IUCLID section 13.2.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on analysis of structural alerts by OECD QSAR Toolbox and available experimental data on a structural analogue, a classification within the CLP Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 is not proposed.
