Description of key information

The acute toxicity of Neoproxen to Rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) was assessed under semi-static conditions in a GLP study according to OECD Guideline No. 203. Fish were exposed to test concentrations of 5.6, 10, 18, 32 and 56 mg/L. Verification of test concentrations showed that the test concentrations slightly decreased over a 24-hour period. However nominal test concentrations were still used to calculate the LC50 values as the test concentrations encompassing the 24-96 hour LC50 values remained at approximately 80% of nominal throughout the study. The 96 h LC50 was 24 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 18 -24 mg/L.
