Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Nominal concentrations: 96-h EL50 >500 mg/L and 96-h NOELR = 500 mg/L based on both growth rate and cell density measurements.
Effect concentrations based on nominal loading rates.Test results reported in original study as “effect concentrations” (EC) are reported in this summary as “effective loading” (EL), because test results are based on WAF loading rates and not measured concentrations. Similarly, the “no observed effect concentration (NOEC) in the report is presented as “no observed effect loading rate” (NOELR) in this summary. Control response was satisfactory.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
500 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
500 mg/L

Additional information

In the key study, the acute toxicity of the water accommodated fraction (WAF) of five mixtures of the test material and water to the Selenastrum capricornutum, was investigated during a study conducted at T.R. Wilbury Laboratories, Inc. The test, which was designed to determine the toxicity of the test substance was conducted according to OECD Guideline 201 (Alga, Growth Inhibition Test).

This study is presented as the key information as the reliability rating for this study is 1, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997.
