Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In water, Fatty acids, C5-9 esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 68424-30-6) is readily biodegradable. Therefore, Hydrolysis is not considered as a relevant degradation pathway. Based on the physico-chemical properties (such as low water solubility) and high adsorption potential, sediment and soil are expected to be the main targets for environmental distribution. However, due to the ready biodegradability, the substance will not persist in these compartments. As the substance has a low vapour pressure (< 0.001 Pa at 20°C) and low water solubility, little evaporation into air is suggested. However if emitted into the air Fatty acids, C5-9 esters with pentaerythritol (CAS-No. 68424-30-6) is susceptible to indirect photodegradation (DT50 < 1 day, AOPWIN v1.92). Bioaccumulation is not expected due to the rapid metabolisation in Fatty acids and alcohols. Furthermore, a calculated BCF resulted in 3.16 - 550 L/kg. Therefore, in accordance with Annex VIII the substance is not bioaccumulative.
