Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Appearance / physical state / colour: The test item is a colourless liquid at ambient temperature.

Melting point / freezing point: The melting point of the test item is less than -100°C at atmospheric pressure, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry.

Boiling point: The boiling point of the test item is 296.6 to 299.5°C at 994.0 to 996.8 hPa as determined by differential scanning calorimetry. As multi-constituent substances do not have a consistent melting/boiling point, a boiling range is reported.

Density: The relative density of the test item at 20°C (compared to water at 4°C) is 0.888 g/cm3. as determined by oscillating densitometer.

Granulometry: The particle size distribution test has been waived because the substance is not manufactured or used in a solid form.

Vapour pressure: The vapour pressure of the test item at 20, 25 and 50°C was calculated to be 0.13, 0.17 and 0.58 hPa, respectively, as determined by vapour-liquid equilibrium.

Partition coefficient: The log Pow of the test item was determined to be 4.72 (weighted average) at 22.3°C, as determined by HPLC method.

Water solubility: The water solubility of the test item was determined to be 6.54 mg/L at 20°C and pH 6.1.

Surface tension: The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test item was determined to be 40.44 mN/m at 20°C, as determined by OECD harmonised ring method. As the surface tension is <60 mN/m, the test item is classified as a surface-active substance.

Flash point: The test item has a flash point of 150°C at 997.4 hPa, as determined by closed cup method. Based on the measured flash point, the test item does not have to be classified as a flammable liquid according to GHS or CLP Regulations.

Auto-flammability: The test item has an auto-ignition temperature of 255°C.

Flammability: The flammability study for the test item has been waived as the substance is a liquid and flammability classification has been based on flash point data.

Explosiveness: Based on the structure of the substance, the explosiveness study has not been conducted as the test item has no structural alerts that would indicate explosive properties.

Oxidising properties: Based on the structure of the substance, the oxidising properties have not been conducted as the test item has no structural alerts that would indicate oxidising properties.

Classification and labelling: The substance is not classified for physico-chemical hazards. Based on the structure of the substance, it does not meet the criteria for oxidising or explosive properties and based on experimental data, the substance does not meet the criteria for a flammable liquid. Experience in manufacture and handling shows that the substance is not a self-heating solid.
