Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on a measured log Pow of 3.9 the BCF of linalyl actetate was calculated to be 174 L/kg ww.

Additional information

The potential to bioaccumulate for the target and source substances was estimated by a calculation with EPI Suite v4.11, BCFBAF v.3.00. The BCF of the target substance was calculated to be 174 L/kg ww using the measured logPow value. This indicates a low bioconcentration potential for linalyl acetate.

However, linalyl acetate is not stable in water and hydrolyses rapidly. The level of bioaccumulation potential as well as the logPow value as indicator for bioaccumulation potential of the hydrolysation products / source substances decrease compared to the parent / target compound linalyl acetate (see Read-across justificatgion). The log Pow decreases by at least one order of magnitude while the calculated BCF values range between 9.7 to 90.5 L/kg ww.

Therefore, the hydrolysation reduces the risk of bioaccumulation for linalyl acetate by the formation of product with less potential to bioaccumulate and bioaccumulation is not relevant for this substance.
