Short-term toxicity to fish

The read-across substance was assessed in a short-term toxicity study to fish according to EU method C.1 and OECD guideline 203. The study was conducted on the filtrate of a super saturated stock suspension of the read-across substance at a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L. The results of the study showed that no mortalities were observed at this read-across substance concentration. The 96-hour NOEC of the read-across substance to Zebra fish was determined to be >= 100 mg/L. The 96-hour LC 50 and the 96-hour LC 100 were > 100 mg/L.

 

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) was assessed in a short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates study according to EU-method C.2 and OECD guideline 202. The definitive studies were conducted on the filtrate of a super saturated stock suspension of the test substance at a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L. The immobilisation tests with daphnia were performed in duplicate using 10 daphnids per flask with observations performed at 24 and 48 hours. The 48-hour NOEC to Daphnia magna were determined to be >= 100 mg/L. The 48-hour EC 50 and EC 100 were > 100 mg/L.

 

Toxicity to algae

The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) was assessed in an aquatic toxicity test to algae according EU-method C.3 and OECD guideline 201. Due to the low water solubility limit of the test substance a filtrate of a supersaturated stock suspension of nominal 100 mg/L was prepared. The filtrate of the stock suspension with dissolved test substance was used as the highest concentrated test medium. Adequate volumes of the stock suspension filtrate were diluted with test water to prepare the test media of following dilutions: dilution 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Additionally, a control was tested in parallel. The 72-hour NOEC for the growth rate and for biomass was determined to be nominal 50 mg/L (1:2 dilution). The 72- hour EC50 for the growth rate was calculated to be >100 mg/L and for biomass 78.2 mg/L based on nominal concentrations.

 

Toxicity to microorganisms

The substance was assessed in an Activated Sludge Respiration Inhibition test, according to the EU-method C. 11 and OECD guideline 209. Based on the preliminary information about the test item caused effect on the activated sludge inoculum, in the main test the substance was investigated at 1000 mg/L test item concentration as limit concentration, without pH adjustment. Based on the results of the preliminary experiment neither inclusion of abiotic controls nor differentiation between heterotrophic respiration and nitrification was considered as necessary. The observed-calculated oxygen consumption rates were in the range of the blank controls, inhibitory effect (the observed in average -0.24 % inhibition (stimulation) was within the biological variability of the applied test system) of the test item at the examined limit concentration of 1000 mg/L was not observed. Based on measured oxygen consumption values it can be stated that the 3-hour EC10, EC50 and EC80 values of the test item are higher than 1000 mg/L. The NOEC can be statistically determined as 1000 mg/L.
