Animals were 52 days old at the time of exposure. Rats were identified by toe clipping, and were housed 5 per cage. Animals were kept in rooms designed to maintain adequate environmental conditions, and were given a commercial diet and municipal water ad libitum.

The target chamber concentration was 19,500 ppm (47 mg/L), 75% of the lower explosive limit for MVE. Chamber concentration was analyzed by gas chromatography 27 times during the 4-hour exposure. Nominal concentration was also calculated based on test material used and chamber airflow. Relative humidity and temperature of the chamber were recorded during the exposure.

Animals were observed for 14 days following the vapor exposure. Body weights were taken pre-exposure, and on days 7 and 14. Gross pathology was performed on all animals. Five male and five female Sprague-Dawley rats were used for the study.

The analytical concentration of MVE in the chamber was 20,
165 ppm. Temperature and relative humidity of the chamber
was maintained adequately for the species.

There were no clinical signs of toxicity noted on the day of
exposure or during the 14 day post-exposure period. There
was likewise no treatment-related mortality during the 14
day period, and no macroscopic findings noted at necropsy.
The LC50 was > 20,165 ppm.

Conclusions:
No mortality and no clinical signs in rats exposed for 4 h to 20165 ppm (48 mg/L) in a acute inhalation toxicity study; LC50>48 mg/L.
